The BOX O3 system is odour free during the entire decontamination process. Thermal processes e.g.
the steam sterilization processes release considerable, unpleasant odours.
The BOX O3 system does not require flue gas desulfurization since the exhaust gas is safe and
free of contaminants.
The BOX O3 system shreds the medical wastes using shredding units. This is done in order to deface the wastes. As a result, the decontaminated, household-similar wastes can be disposed of in landfills without posing the risk of a secondary parasitic market.
The BOX O3 system operates in a very environmental friendly way. With the increasing awareness of the atmospheric emissions from waste incinerators, it was found that incinerators of hospital wastes contributed largely to air pollution in urban centres. As small combustion systems, they were usually only subjected
to very limited air pollution control requirements. A US study from 1994 showed that the hospital waste incinerators made up the largest source
of dioxin emissions in the country.
The BOX O3 system safely and reliably decontaminates medical wastes since all control parameters are monitored. All decontamination processes are globally logged, recorded and are therefore traceable.
The BOX O3 system was optimized and validated
by different laboratories and institutions including
the laboratory of the Edouard Herriot Hospital in Lyon (France). The results of the reliability tests meet the requirements of numerous laws. The process was certified and approved by the relevant authorities in France.
VOLUME REDUCTION WITH BOX O3
The primary objective of the BOX O3 system is to ensure that every institution is able to dispose medical wastes hygienically and under optimum safety conditions by converting these to household-similar wastes. This also reduces the total cost of disposal, not to mention the costs of hazardous waste transportation.
The patented process takes place automatically in environmentally friendly conditions in a compact treatment plant where ozone is used in a predetermined injection cycle with specific chemical additives to microbiologically decontaminate the shredded wastes in a safe way.

Our BOX O3 concept enables on-site decontamination of medical wastes. This saves transport costs, special packaging and offers a high level of safety. All kinds of waste, including household-similar and possible contaminated wastes, can hereby be decontaminated. This waste disposal concept offers a significant advantage with regards to hospital hygiene especially
in this age of MRSA (Methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus).
Up to 4 kg of waste with a volume of up to 40 litres results from every dialysis treatment. The waste includes packaging material (approx. 90%), used dialyzers (filters) and tube systems, dialysis ancillary products such as syringes, disposable gloves and disposable pads. These can be soaked in blood, contaminated with pathogen-filled blood /serum, excretion or secretion. The BOX O3 makes it possible to safely decontaminate these wastes.
Waste facilities that specialize in the disposal of medical wastes can largely benefit from the BOX O3 concept as it offers a cost-friendly and safe decontamination principle. Unlike with the incineration or steam sterilization, no special waste hereby results.
The BOX O3 systems are available in different sizes to suit every application. One advantage of our systems is that nothing else is needed apart from a single power supply and exhaust duct. This therefore makes it extremely easy to implement them for mobile services e.g. humanitarian operations.
